Straight line art exercise 1

Introduction.

The purpose of this exercise is to introduce straight line art using the simplest of tools and it does not require maths or measuring skills. It will give the child the satisfaction of creating neat and colourful art that is all the child’s own work.

Coloured pencils.
Dinner plate or other suitable circular object.
Straight edge.

Method.

Lay the plate on the paper and centre it by eye. It will be easier to centre if the paper is not much larger than the plate.
